SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The social aspect of this committee is dedicated to
people meeting people in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to strengthen
the fellowship of the congregation through friendship, spirituality and
good times.
We are proud to plan and organize one of the biggest
events of the year - our Kick-off-the-Year Picnic each September!
The social committee plans special board initiated
functions, receptions and Onegs. We
help with the Purim Carnival and Chanukah Party, and are available to other
committees to share ideas and lend a hand.
The Atlanta Braves are an integral part of the Atlanta scene and we
are there to support them! The
social committee plans outings to games at various times throughout the
season. And let's not forget our
yearly rafting trip. A great family
outing for all!
As part of our spiritual contribution, the social
committee is responsible for planning our very special Sukkot celebration.
COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES
Community service is a special part of our
organization. We reach out to our
community to make a difference. The
committee organizes a group of temple volunteers to lend a helping hand to
those in need at the Gwinnett Community Clinic. This free clinic was founded many years
ago by one of our members and is a volunteer-based, not for profit facility
which provides a wide range of services by over 200 nurses, physicians,
pharmacists and those from the general public, willing to give of their
time. We are proud to be a part of
this most worthy cause.
The committee organizes a group of "Pinch
Hitters" to help out at Eastside
Hospital during the
Christmas holiday in order for our non-Jewish friends to spend the holiday
with their families. We also organize and give of
our time at the Jewish Family Shelter and head the Isaiah Food Drive.
